7 Days Bhutan Cycling Tour

DAY 01~ Arrive Paro to Thimphu (1 hour)

On arrival at the airport, our guide will receive you. You will drive to Paro town for some refreshment and proceed to Thimphu. You will stop en-route to view the magnificent Tachocho Lhakhang (temple). Further drive will reach to Chuzom confluence and finally to Thimphu. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

DAY 02~ Biking in Thimphu (2 hrs biking)

You will explore Thimphu by cycling to National Memorial Chorten (stupa). Then ride to National Library (to witness the Kingdom’s rich culture); the National Institute of Zorig Chusum where students undergo training course in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts and finally the Folk Heritage Museum.

Post lunch, visit Changangkha Lhakhang, a fortress like temple and then to the Taken Preserve to see the rare national animal of Bhutan. The next ride is to the Buddha point where you will see the giant Buddha statue and a stunning view of Thimphu valley.

Another view of the Thimphu valley is possible with a further bike towards the Bhutan Broadcasting Service tower. Thereafter, drive in car to visit Tashichho Dzong (the fortress of the glorious religion) which is Bhutan’s administrative and religious center. Overnight stay at Hotel, Thimphu.

DAY 03~ Bike ride from Thimphu to Punakha (77 km, 2 ½ hours)

A yet another exciting cycling expedition begins towards Punakha (ancient capital) along dense forest and valleys. En route, stop at Dochu La (3050 m) to view the snow-capped eastern Himalayan ranges and Druk Wangyal Chorten (stupa). It takes about 1 hour to cycle from Thimphu to Dochula. You will continue biking to Punakha winding down through the lush forest of oak, fir, spurs, and rhododendron and opening up to paddy fields. On the way, visit the temple of fertility “Chimi Lhakhang” which is located atop hill. Overnight stay at Hotel, Punakha.

DAY 04~ Biking in Punakha

The morning starts with cycling to the Punakha Dzong (fortress) which was built in 1637. Another 3 hours cycling along the Phochu river is thrilling. Thereafter, visit a farm house and walk along the rice field. Overnight in Punakha.

DAY 05~ Punakha – Paro

Begin return drive to Paro. Latter, we offer optional local sightseeing or you may wish to take a cycling tour around Paro. Overnight stay at Paro.

DAY 06~ Hike to Paro Taksang or ‘Tiger’s Nest’

Today could be the highlight of the tour program. You will bike through the beautiful Paro valley and take a stunning hike on foot or on accommodating mule to the Taktsang Goemba (Tiger’s Nest). The hike takes about 5 hours round trip through pine forests. Overnight in Paro.

DAY 07~ Departure

Drive to the Paro airport for flight to your onward destination with the hope that we shall be able to serve you again with our other exciting tour packages.
